My Approach

People often come into therapy when they have a challenge or conflict that arises which proves difficult to manage.  As a therapist, it's my commitment to help people grow through understanding themselves better.  My work with individuals and groups generally includes exploring and re-connecting with one's sense of Self, processing difficult feelings, and effectively managing automatic, intrusive thought patterns. At times, I teach and practice the use of breath and awareness of one’s body as a tool in self-soothing and healing, as the body and mind connect in ways that offer a deeper healing experience.

My approach is trauma-informed and person-centered. Creating a safe space where individuals can begin to emotionally heal is an integral part of the therapeutic experience.  From here, people may learn how to sustain a trusting, meaningful relationship both in our work together and in their life.

I believe anyone who has a willingness to learn can benefit from therapy counseling services.  I offer treatment for issues related to high stress and anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, and relationship conflicts. My training experience comes from a combination of theoretical modalities such as an attachment-based approach, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy (MBCT), ecosystemic structural family therapy (EFST), internal family systems therapy (IFS), and eye-movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR).  I may use assessment tools (like checklist evaluation forms) to inform the treatment structure and best practice for each individual or group. Treatment goals and objectives are meant to be re-assessed in a collaborative manner, then updated throughout the treatment process as time progresses.
